TAMPA — Bloomingdale went on the road and almost pulled off a huge upset. After finishing the first quarter with a seven-point lead over Plant, the Bulls fought to the end until losing in a shootout.
“We made some mistakes early on, but you have to give them credit for the way they battled and the way they prepared,” Plant coach Robert Weiner said.
Bloomingdale quarterback Isaiah McIntyre threw for 350 yards with three touchdowns and an interception. He also rushed for two touchdowns.
McIntyre went toe-to-toe with Plant quarterback Colby Brown, who had 422 yards on 32-of-42 passing and four touchdowns.
Jordan Reed caught 16 passes for 205 yards.
The Panthers scored three straight times to start the second half, but McIntyre had two touchdown passes and a run for a score. After McIntyre’s 9-yard run put the Bulls within 10 points, Bloomingdale failed to recover the onside kick.
