Plant 47, Riverview 7

Published:

RIVERVIEW — Colby Brown threw for 243 yards and six TDs in the first half as Plant rebounded from its first loss of the season.

Brown completed 15 of 17 passes, including three scoring strikes to Jordan Reed, as the Panthers registered 356 yards of offense in the opening half. Reed caught five passes for 94 yards, highlighted by a middle screen on the first play of the second quarter for 45 yards and a touchdown.

The Panthers (4-1-1), who lost to Tampa Bay Tech a week ago, capitalized when Riverview (2-3) fumbled on two of its first four plays. Brown hit Cameron Winter and Reed for short TD passes and Plant led 12-0.

“(Brown) broke down every fundamental detail of his game, had a great week of practice and it showed,” Plant coach Robert Weiner said. “That shows what kind of leader he is, what kind of kid he is.”

Keisean Young had 103 yards rushing for Riverview – 77 on a touchdown run to make it 33-7 in the first half. Brown responded with his final TD pass – a 23-yarder to Reed on the next play from scrimmage.
