SPRING HILL — After last year’s winless season and a loss in the season opener last week, Northside Christian was hoping for a win.
It got its wish in a big way, dominating host Bishop McLaughlin for a shutout victory.
The Mustangs (1-1) were led by a trio of running backs who each gained triple digits in rushing yards — Josh Snead ran for 120 yards on seven carries, Jhon Williams had 106 yards on eight carries and Fiante Bell hit the century mark on six carries.
With rain falling the entire game, neither team could sustain a passing game.
The wet conditions also resulted in seven fumbles.
The Hurricanes (1-1) were without their leading running back, Alex Stafford, who suffered a back injury last week.
Quarterback R.J. Perciavalle ran for 31 yards and was sacked six times.
“I wanted a great effort and to have everyone be on the same page on every play,” Mustangs head coach Mike Alstott said.
