LARGO — Jarvis Stewart ran for two touchdowns and had an interception to lead Largo to a victory in its homecoming game against Gibbs.
Stewart, a senior, rushed for 217 yards on 23 carries. His 23-yard touchdown run on Largo’s opening drive set the tone for the game.
While Stewart and the Largo offense were scoring early, its defense was forcing turnovers. The Packers’ Javaris Sanders recovered a fumbled snap on Gibbs’ first offensive play. The next play, junior Jonathan Crawford took a reverse around the left end for a 30-yard touchdown.
Quarterback Isaiah Thomas made it 20-0 late in the first quarter when he connected with Raheem Harvey on a 12-yard touchdown pass.
Stewart’s second touchdown run came midway through the third when he looked to be stopped for a short gain but broke free from a pile of Gibbs defenders for a 74-yard run that made it 26-0.
Harvey intercepted Xavier Kirns in the end zone early in the third quarter to stop any momentum for the Gladiators.
