TAMPA — Deiondre Porter passed for 217 yards and three touchdowns, and ran for another score, to lead Jefferson past Leto in a Class 6A-District 8 game.
Jefferson (4-1) scored touchdowns on all five of its possessions in the first half.
Porter kicked off the scoring with a 4-yard screen pass to senior receiver Derrick Ingram for an early 7-0 advantage. The Dragons added a 65-yard catch-and-run by Chavez Pownell and a 4-yard touchdown run by Mondreas Lofton to give them a 21-0 lead through one quarter. Porter didn’t slow down in the second, scoring on a 1-yard keeper and throwing a 49-yard touchdown pass to senior receiver James Wilson.
Jefferson added a 17-yard fumble return by senior linebacker Pelham Golden as time expired in the first half to make it 41-0.
Leto (0-5) was held to one first down in the first half.
Porter gave way to sophomore Terence Verriett to start the second half. After a scoreless third quarter, Verriett found senior wide receiver Ventell Bryant down the right sideline for a 35-yard touchdown at the end of the fourth quarter.
Bryant finished with 116 yards receiving.
