TAMPA — It was the Damian King show in a key Class 2A-District 5 battle Friday night.
King scored six touchdowns (four rushing and two receiving) to lead the Indian Rocks Christian Golden Eagles to the road win against Cambridge Christian Lancers and put themselves in the driver’s seat for the district crown.
Cambridge (4-3, 1-2) jumped out to an early 7-0 lead when quarterback Garrett Young scored on a 5-yard keeper.
It was all Indian Rocks Christian (6-2, 5-0) after that.
King scored three touchdowns in a five-minute span to put the Golden Eagles in control.
King finished with 207 yards rushing and added another 62 receiving.
Theo Anderson and Daniel Llerna also topped the 100-yard mark, rushing for 110 and 165 yards, respectively.
Nick Stein led the Lancers offense with three receptions for 111 yards, including a 65-yard catch and run that led to the game’s first touchdown.
Next week, Cambridge Christian plays host to Carrollwood Day, and Indian Rocks Christian hosts Keswick Christian.
