HUDSON — A little more than a year removed from a long losing streak, the revitalization of the Hudson Cobras as a Pasco County power is complete.
With their victory over Gulf, the Cobras cemented themselves as a contender for the 5A-7 crown.
Hudson leaned on the usual suspects to lead it to victory.
Joey Caruso threw for 106 yards and rushed for 59 yards and two scores.
Noah Siegrist entered the game with 551 yards rushing, and he added 112 yards and two touchdowns.
Two-way player Zach Russell was all over the field. He scored the game’s first touchdown on a 37-yard run, and in the third quarter with Gulf threatening, he picked off a pass and weaved his way down the field 85 yards for a touchdown.
Gulf was playing without standout quarterback Avery Welch because of an ankle injury, and the Bucs struggled on offense.
One bright spot was sophomore Malik Cobb, who finished with 73 yards rushing and a touchdown.
