Records/stats through Thursday

Boys

1. Mitchell (11-0): The Mustangs head into the Admiral Farragut Holiday tournament on the heels of a 81-45 victory against Ridgewood.

2. Wesley Chapel (9-1): Even though the Wildcats suffered their first loss of the season vs. Brooksville Nature Coast, they were able to rebound with a 69-66 win against a good Brooksville Hernando team.

3. Land O’ Lakes (7-3): The Gators needed four overtimes to defeat Anclote 71-69 on Tuesday night.

4. Hudson (7-3): The Cobras have played some of their best basketball as of late, with the team going on a five-game winning streak.

5. River Ridge (7-6): The Royal Knights take on Anclote before going on a break for two weeks until resuming play on Jan. 3.

Girls

1. Wiregrass Ranch (14-1): The Bulls defeated Steinbrenner for the first time in school history last Tuesday. Wiregrass now eyes a matchup against Gulf on Thursday.

2. Academy at the Lakes (9-0): The Wildcats have kept an undefeated mark through nine games, but will face some tough competition in the AATL Holiday tourney.

3. Gulf (11-1): The Buccaneers await a big rematch against Wiregrass Ranch, as Gulf has picked up 10 consecutive wins since losing to the Bulls.

4. River Ridge (12-2): River Ridge plays at Anclote before traveling down to the Miami area to take part in the Queen of Palms tournament.

5. Land O’ Lakes (11-2): Two losses to Gulf are the only blemishes on the Gators’ record so far. Land O’ Lakes only has four games left on its regular-season schedule.
