Each week, the Tribune prep sports staff selects a Male and Female Athlete of the Week. The selections are based on athletic performance. For video, visit TBO.com/sports/preps to meet our athletes of the week.

* Dwayne Lawson, Hillsborough

WHY WE CHOSE HIM: There have been many great quarterbacks to come through the original county high school, and last week in a 52-21 win against Blake, Lawson passed for a school-record 411 yards with five touchdowns. Lawson also rushed for a game-high 122 yards with one touchdown.

COLLEGE PLANS: The 6-foot-5 QB has offers from South Florida, Florida Atlantic, Florida International, Indiana, Mississippi State, Purdue and is also being recruited by Florida, Florida State, Auburn and Tennessee.

* Emmy Martin, Academy of the Holy Names

WHY WE CHOSE HER: The senior won her third-consecutive individual district crown with a field-low 2-under 70 at the Class 2A-District 17 tournament at Sun City's Sandpiper course to lead the Jaguars to the team district title. Martin, the 2012 Tribune Female Golfer of the Year, placed 15th individually in the Class 1A state tournament last year. On Monday, she won the 2A-Region 6 title with a 67 at Highlands Ridge North.

COLLEGE PLANS: Martin is verbally committed to Texas Christian University.
