Garrett Young, Cambridge Christian
WHY WE CHOSE HIM: Young, a senior quarterback, accounted for six touchdowns in the Lancers’ 41-36 win against Calvary Christian in last week’s season opener. Young completed 19 of 27 passes for 328 yards and four TDs and rushed for an additional 49 yards and two touchdowns.
COLLEGE PLANS: Young has interest from a few Division I schools, including Valparaiso, Mercer and the University of Connecticut.
Karissa Rhoades, Bloomingdale
WHY WE CHOSE HER: A senior outside hitter, Rhoades led the Bulls in a three-set sweep against Steinbrenner, a 2013 state semifinalist. Rhoades finished the game with 14 kills and two blocks, two aces and six digs. Rhoades set a school record with 457 kills last season, breaking the record she set as a freshman.
COLLEGE PLANS: Rhoades is verbally committed to Florida Gulf Coast University.
