Flag football: Robinson falls in quarterfinal

After advancing to the state semifinals a year ago, the Robinson High flag football team lost a round earlier this season. Orlando Dr. Phillips advanced to the state semifinals by defeating the Knights on Friday night, 12-6.

Dr. Phillips (15-2), which lost in the state final a year ago, advances to play Jacksonville Mandarin today at Osceola High. Mandarin (17-0) defeated Tallahassee FAMU, 19-6. In the other quarterfinals, Loxahatchee Seminole Ridge shut out Tarpon Springs, 32-0, while Miami Monsignor Pace blanked Delray Beach Atlantic, 6-0.

Robinson finished 14-2.

Robinson got its score in the third quarter when quarterback Deliah Autry hit Crystal Ortiz with a 10-yard touchdown pass. The PAT pass was incomplete.

Dr. Phillips quarterback Hannah Schaible was responsible for both TDs: a 10-yard pass to Rachel Lopez in the second quarter and a 12-yard run in the fourth quarter.
