Tampa Catholic basketball standout Chivarsky Corbett has verbally committed to Delaware.
Corbett, a 6-foot-6 small forward, averaged almost a double-double last season with 22 points and 9.9 rebounds per game, and he was selected to the Tribune’s All-Hillsborough County first team. Corbett also had offers from South Florida, Texas Pan-American and Jacksonville and also was being recruited by James Madison, Indiana-Purdue Fort Wayne and George Mason.
Steinbrenner coach Andres Perez-Reinaldo will not be on the sideline with his team Friday when the Warriors (3-5, 2-2) play at Gaither (4-4, 3-1) in a key district game.
Perez-Reinaldo was ejected during the fourth quarter of last week’s game against Freedom, which the Warriors won 17-15, and must serve a one-game suspension. Perez received a Level 1 unsportsmanlike conduct penalty and the school was assessed a $100 fine. Perez also must complete a six-hour “Fundamentals of Coaching” course before the end of the suspension. Perez received two unsportsmanlike penalties during the game, the first with 2:01 remaining in the fourth quarter when he ran onto the field to dispute a call. He received the second penalty at 1:52 for “disrespectfully addressing a game official.”
