BRANDON — Middleton couldn’t find an answer for Brandon’s ground attack as the Eagles ran to a homecoming win.
Brandon quarterback Brandon Jones rushed for 119 yards and two touchdowns on 14 carries, while tailback Jonathan Jones ran for 109 yards and a score on 18 carries.
Brandon Jones completed only one pass, but it was more than the Eagles needed as they built a 16-0 halftime lead.
“As I’ve said many times, we’re not real glamorous,” Eagles coach Dean Eychner said. “We want to control the ball, control the overall tempo of the game, get first downs and mix and match formations. That’s the recipe for us to succeed.”
Middleton (0-6) rallied in the third quarter to cut its deficit to 10 points, but the Eagles (3-3) stayed patient and controlled the ball for much of the fourth quarter.
Tigers wide receiver Anthony Rhynes excelled in the loss, catching six passes for 122 yards. He also had a 46-yard touchdown grab negated because of a penalty.
Middleton hosts Blake next Friday in its next game, while Brandon has a bye week before playing at Durant on Oct. 18.
