Leading 2-1 with 14 minutes remaining, the top-seeded Mitchell High boys soccer team (21-2-3) scored four unanswered goals to win the Class 4A-District 7 title 6-1 against Wesley Chapel (10-13-1).
"I love how we reacted," said Mustangs coach Oscar Ubillus, referencing Wesley Chapel's lone goal by Max Caceres with 18:09 remaining.
Mitchell led 2-0 at the half on goals by Chris McVeigh and Brendan Ross, but it could have been much more lopsided as two open shots hit the left post. Ross also had an assist.
The Mustangs made it 3-1 on a Gabriel Ruiz goal with 14:05 remaining, but put the game away when Alex Wegener, Jason Leslie and David Vasquez all scored on consecutive trips down the field in a 21/2 minute span.
It is Mitchell's second consecutive district title and third overall, and they snapped a five-match Wildcats winning streak.
Having outscored its past three opponents 21-1, Mitchell will play Wiregrass Ranch on Thursday in the region quarterfinals.
