TAMPA — Armwood wrapped up a perfect campaign in the “District Of Death” and moved to 9-0 overall as the Hawks knocked off upset-minded Chamberlain.

Leading 3-0 late in the first quarter, Armwood found itself pinned inside the 1-yard line after a Chamberlain punt. Quarterback Noah Johnson proceeded to lead Armwood on a 10-play, 99-yard drive that included a 46-yard pass to Talvin Bailey and a 26-yard pass to Austin Gallon. Caylan Holloway capped the drive with a 2-yard run to put Armwood up 10-0.

Armwood went on to score touchdowns on its next three possessions to put the game out of reach. Johnson connected with Trevor Laurent from 47 and 15 yards for touchdowns and Johnson ran one in from 9 yards out.

Johnson finished with 241 yards passing, 80 yards rushing and three total touchdowns before departing in the fourth quarter for the second string.

Over the years, Armwood’s offense has been predicated largely on the run, but head coach Sean Callahan is getting used to having a potent passing attack.

“We are a better and better passing team each week,” Callahan said. “We really are a team that needs to pass more.”
