Callahan Invited To Coach BowlStaff
Published: September 30, 2008
Armwood football coach Sean Callahan has been extended an invitation to coach in the 2009 U.S. Army All-American Bowl.
Callahan, who has led Armwood to two state titles this decade, would be an assistant with the East squad if he accepts the invitation. He would leave for San Antonio, Texas, the site of the annual all-star game, on Dec. 27 and spend a week with the team before the nationally-televised game on Jan. 3.
Callahan's specific coaching duties would not be determined until a later date, he said.
"I'm strongly considering it," Callahan said Tuesday. "I've been fortunate to be associated with the Army All-American Bowl the last couple of years, with Torrey Davis and Matt Patchan [being selected for the game previously] and Ryne Giddins [being selected for the 2009 game]. They're quite a group. They do everything first-class."
Armwood is 4-0 this season and is a consensus top 10 team in the national rankings. The Hawks are ranked No. 2 in the RivalsHigh 100, No. 5 in the USA Today Super 25, No. 7 in the PrepNation.com National Prep Poll and No. 7 in the ESPNRISE FAB 50.
