TAMPA -- Greg Leclair scored a pair of fourth-quarter touchdowns, including an electrifying 78-yard punt return with 2:30 remaining, as Brandon earned a 14-13 come-from-behind victory at Sickles.
Leclair, who earlier scored on a 3-yard run to pull Brandon within six, fielded a bouncing punt on his 22, cut to his left and eluded a host of Sickles defenders before cruising into the end zone with the game-winning score.
"Last year we won two games in the fourth quarter with a veteran team," Brandon coach John Lima said. "This year we've got a young group, so a big concern for us was how we'd respond at the end of games.
"Beyond that, Sickles beat us in every facet of the game. They deserved to win this game, so it better be a wakeup call for us."
Sickles, which scored touchdowns on its first two drives, rallied on its final possession. The Gryphons drove to the Eagles' 16, but a 33-yard field-goal attempt was wide left as time expired.
Sickles held a 289-224 advantage in yards, with quarterback Cullen O'Brien passing for 87 yards and Tim Adames-Beman gaining 72 yards on seven carries. Jarquez Bradshaw led Brandon with 70 yards on 16 carries, while quarterback Dillion Lassiter adding 55 yards rushing and another 46 passing.
