Once Donnie Gabrelcik's score was written on the board, there was no doubt who would take home the Sunshine Athletic Conference boys golf title. Mitchell High shot 303 as a team Monday to grab its second title in as many years and fifth in seven seasons.
Gabrelcik won medalist honors with a 3-under-par 69 at Plantation Palms Golf Course.
"(It was all) my putter today — just 25 putts," the lanky sophomore said. "Short game, too. I did about an hour and a half a day working on the short game and it paid off."
The Mustangs also got a 77 from Anthony Swinford, a 78 from Dylan Strout and a 79 from James Pittman.
River Ridge came in second with a 329, which edged Land O' Lakes at third (332). The Royal Knights got 78s from Michael Dodson and Michael Stewart, while Jordan Dollbaum shot 80.
Zephyrhills finished fifth, behind a 74 from Cory Bahr, while Wiregrass Ranch was sixth, led by a 74 by Matt Penderville. Pasco's Austin Riddaugh and Wesley Chapel's Noah Fleck shot 79 to round out the top-10 individual scores.

It didn't bother Wesley Chapel's Hanna Lee that she was playing in muggy weather at the Abbey Golf Course. With cloudy weather on the horizon, there was doubt throughout the clubhouse whether the SAC meet would be able to finish
The rain held off, and the Wildcats' No. 1 posted the best score of the day, a 4-over 74, while Mitchell took home the SAC title with a 332 total.
On the par-70 course, Sunlake's Kelly Harris was second with a 77, while Mitchell's Ashley Richardson and Shyanne Dove shot 78 and 81.
Zephyrhills had three finish in the top 10 with Danielle Bahr (87), Karisten Deem (92) and Sydney Owens (94).
Wiregrass Ranch's Heather Muse (87), Fivay's Amber Mariano (92) and Gulf's Sarah Usewick (93) finished in the top 10.
In the team scoring, Zephyrhills took second with a 370, while Wiregrass Ranch and Sunlake tied for third place at 386.
