TAMPA — The committee responsible for selecting the University of South Florida’s next athletic director met for the first time Tuesday afternoon, though little more than outlining the search process was discussed.
No specific candidates were mentioned and no timeline for the hiring was given.
Committee chair Bill Sutton, a USF professor and director of its Sport and Entertainment Management program, expects that “upwards of 20 to 30 qualified candidates will apply.” Search firm Eastman & Beaudine, retained by the university for $100,000 dollars, will then narrow the pool to three to five candidates for further consideration by the committee.
Eastman & Beaudine president Bob Beaudine was at the meeting and said candidates from both business and athletics backgrounds will be considered.
“This is an outstanding job,” Beaudine said. “This isn’t just a good one. This is an outstanding opportunity in a vibrant market.”
