TAMPA — Former Florida State University wide receiver Ron Dugans was hired Thursday as University of South Florida receivers coach.

Dugans, who played opposite Peter Warrick on FSU’s 1999 national championship team, was Louisville’s receivers coach on Charlie Strong’s staff from 2010-13.

David Reaves, who was USF’s receivers coach last season, will shift to quarterbacks coach. Reaves also has been quarterbacks coach at South Carolina, Tennessee and New Mexico, where he called the offensive plays.

Reaves, a quarterback at Appalachian State, will work with Mike White, who started five games last season as a true freshman.

After the season, USF coach Willie Taggart fired quarterbacks coach Nick Sheridan and offensive coordinator/offensive line coach Walt Wells, who has since been replaced by San Francisco 49ers assistant Paul Wulff.
