NEED TO KNOW: USF, coming off a 65-60 home defeat against Detroit, is trying to avoid a three-game losing streak after beginning the season 4-0. … After going 2-10 on the road last season, USF can go 2-0 away from the Sun Dome with a victory tonight. … USF’s leading scorer, senior Victor Rudd (14.2 points per game), is shooting 90.6 percent from the free-throw line (29-for-32). … USF was 3-for-18 from 3-point range against Detroit and is shooting just 29.2 percent from behind the arc this season. … USF defeated George Mason 61-57 last season at the Sun Dome. … The Patriots, first-year members of the Atlantic 10 Conference, returned all five starters from a 22-16 team. They are led by 6-foot-4 senior guard Sherrod Wright, who has 1,228 career points. He had 22 last season against USF. … The Bulls return to the Sun Dome on Saturday night to face Alabama.
