NEED TO KNOW: USF has dropped five straight games since a 79-78 overtime win at UCF on Feb. 5. ... In order to earn a first-round bye in the AAC tournament, USF must win its final three regular-season games and Houston must lose its final three. Houston put itself in almost unreachable position with Thursday’s 77-68 home win against Memphis. … Rutgers defeated the Bulls 79-69 on Feb. 8 at the Sun Dome. Kadeem Jack had a career-high 31 points (13-for-13 from the free-throw line) for Rutgers, which opened the game with a 15-2 run. … Rutgers leads the overall series 8-5, including a 5-1 advantage at home. … USF senior forward Victor Rudd, who has averaged 20.6 points and 9.0 rebounds in the past three games, is 26 points from 13th on the school’s all-time scoring list. … USF is at Houston on Tuesday night before finishing at home against Temple in the March 8 regular-season finale.
