Lawson powers USF to victory

CINCINNATI -

Jessica Lawson had 22 points and 12 rebounds - her fourth consecutive double-double and 11th of the season - as the South Florida women's team rolled past Cincinnati (9-11, 2-6 Big East) 64-47 at Fifth Third Arena on Saturday.

USF (12-8, 3-4) went on an 18-6 run to take its biggest lead of the half, 23-14, on a running jumper by Leondra Doomes-Stephens with 3:19 left before halftime.

Doomes-Stephens had 17 points while Sequoyah Griffin chipped in with 10 points and a career-high nine assists.

FLORIDA TECH 62

TAMPA - Four Spartans scored in double figures - led by Gianna Messina's game-high 25 - as No. 16 Tampa erased a 17-point deficit to defeat Florida Tech.

Tampa (18-2, 8-1), atop the Sunshine State Conference standings, won its 15th straight at the Martinez Center.

Tiara Cook had 21 points for the winners, while Angela Guiu added 12 and Taja Green scored 10.

Florida Tech (10-10, 2-7) went on a 22-3 run to lead 26-9 with 11:07 left in the first half. Tampa countered with a 25-11 run to finish the half to pull within 37-34.

No. 1 Connecticut wins 60th straight

PITTSBURGH - Tina Charles scored 24 points to become the sixth Connecticut player to reach 2,000 points in her career and the No. 1 Huskies (21-0, 8-0 in Big East) coasted to their 60th consecutive victory, beating overwhelmed Pittsburgh 98-56.
