Antigua’s Contract

The University of South Florida’s new men’s basketball coach, Orlando Antigua, received a five-year contract worth $4.75 million, plus incentives.

Here are the details.

♦ Base salary is $375,000, plus supplemental income of $525,000 for a total annual compensation of $900,000. The supplemental income will increase by $25,000 each year, meaning his total annual compensation will go from $900,000 (2014-15) to $925,000 (2015-16) to $950,000 (2016-17) to $975,000 (2017-18) to $1 million (2018-19).

♦ Antigua is provided a country-club membership, courtesy car and the right to operate basketball camps and clinics.

♦ The assistant coach salary pool runs from $700,000 (2014-15) to $725,000 (2015-16) to $750,000 (2016-17) to $775,000 (2017-18) to $800,000 (2018-19).

♦ Antigua has the following incentive bonuses — NCAA championship ($500,000); Final Four appearance ($250,000); conference regular-season championship ($100,000); conference tournament championship ($50,000); at-large NCAA tournament invitation ($50,000); each NCAA tournament victory ($25,000); national coach of the year ($25,000); NIT championship ($25,000); conference coach of the year ($15,000); NIT invitation ($10,000).

♦ If Antigua leaves USF, he owes the school the remainder of his base salary.

♦ If USF terminates Antigua without cause, the school owes him the remainder of his base salary.
