Deividas Dulkys also had 10 points Monday night for FSU, which opens up the regular season at home against Jacksonville University on Friday night.
Evan Mobley scored 14 points and Colin Slotter added nine points for Georgia Southwestern, a Division II school.
FSU led 18-9 before going on a 14-0 run midway through the first half. James had 10 first-half points as the Seminoles grabbed a 45-19 lead.
The Seminoles frustrated Georgia Southwestern on the defensive end. The Hurricanes had 23 turnovers and just four assists.
FSU shot 30 of 57 (52.6 percent) from the floor in the game, while Georgia Southwestern shot just 11 of 38 (28.9 percent).
The Seminoles out rebounded Georgia Southwestern 37-23.
