Ex-Plant, FSU RB Wilder signs with Bengals

Former Plant High running back James Wilder Jr., who was undrafted after leaving Florida State University after his junior season, signed a free-agent contract with the Bengals.

Wilder, 6-foot-2, 225 pounds, rushed for 1,358 yards and 20 touchdowns in three seasons for FSU. As a junior, when the Seminoles won the national championship, Wilder rushed for 563 yards and eight touchdowns.

At Plant, he was a prep All-American and the Tribune’s 2009 Hillsborough County football player of the year.
