Texans-Lions, 12:30 p.m.
WHERE: Ford Field, Detroit
TV/CREW: CBS, Ch. 10 (Jim Nantz,
ABOUT THE TEXANS: Houston is built to outlast you in a shootout or grind out a win in a defensive struggle — and this matchup tilts toward a shootout. The Texans are 4-0 on the road and Matt Schaub, who passed for 527 yards last week, has won 13 of his past 14 starts. DE J.J. Watt keys a rugged defense and WR Andre Johnson is a force.
ABOUT THE LIONS: Despite leading the league in passing yards, Detroit has struggled to overcome that minus-7 turnover differential. The Lions are 0-4 in the division, but Matt Stafford has shredded AFC opponents for 15 TD passes in the past six meetings. WR Calvin Johnson is a nasty matchup for any secondary and DT Nick Fairley is coming on.
KEY STAT: The Lions are 10-0 when Stafford posts a passer rating of at least 105.0.
KEY MATCHUP: Lions RT Gosder Cherilus vs. Watt, who has 11.5 sacks and 11 pass deflections.
IRA KAUFMAN'S CALL: Lions, 24-21
Redskins-Cowboys, 4:15 p.m.
WHERE: Cowboys Stadium, Arlington, Texas
TV/CREW: Fox, Ch. 13 (Joe Buck,
Troy Aikman, Pam Oliver)
ABOUT THE REDSKINS: Armed with the NFL's No. 2 ground attack, the Redskins turn to another NFC East rival after trouncing Philadelphia. Rookie back Alfred Morris is 131 yards away from the 1,000-yard plateau and WR Santana Moss is forming a strong rapport with rookie QB Robert Griffin III, who was spectacular last week.
ABOUT THE COWBOYS: Coach Jason Garrett is 3-0 vs. Washington and the Cowboys are 28-15-1 on Thanksgiving. After a slow start, Jason Witten has resumed his place among the league's elite tight ends. OLB DeMarcus Ware has reeled off seven consecutive double-digit sack seasons and WR Dez Bryant is playing big.
KEY STAT: Only the Patriots (7) have turned the ball over less than the Redskins, who have nine giveaways.
KEY MATCHUP: Bryant vs. CB DeAngelo Hall, who had 11 tackles in the last meeting against Dallas.
KAUFMAN'S CALL: Cowboys, 23-21
Patriots-Jets, 8:20 p.m.
WHERE: MetLife Stadium,
East Rutherford, N.J.
TV/CREW: NBC, Ch. 8 (Al Michaels, Cris Collinsworth, Michele Tafoya)
ABOUT THE PATRIOTS: New England leads the league in points and total offense behind Tom Brady, who has thrown 21 TD passes and only three picks. The Pats are on a four-game winning streak and that plus-20 turnover ratio has helped them build a cushion in the AFC East. With TE Rob Gronkowski sidelined, Aaron Hernandez is set to return.
ABOUT THE JETS: New York has dropped 15 of their past 19 matchups against New England, but the Jets played a solid game at St. Louis last week to stop the bleeding. WR Jeremy Kerley is developing into a dependable target for embattled QB Mark Sanchez, who played efficiently against the Rams.
KEY STAT: Brady is 17-5 vs. the Jets, with 32 TD passes.
KEY MATCHUP: Kerley vs. Aqib Talib, the former Buc CB who debuted in New England last week with a 59-yard interception return for a TD.
KAUFMAN'S CALL: Jets, 27-24
