Use Blount in the passing game
The Packers have struggled to stop running backs from gaining good yardage on catches in the flat or just across the line of scrimmage. To take advantage, the Bucs need to get the ball into the hands of RB LeGarrette Blount and make greater use of Kregg Lumpkin as a pass catcher. Tampa Bay has been hesitant to give Blount a big role as a pass catcher, but Green Bay's seeming vulnerability suggests the Bucs should go outside their comfort zone.
Bucs S Sean Jones said it best last week: One missed tackle should not result in a touchdown. All 11 defenders should rally to the football. That's how the Bucs are supposed to play defense, though they've lost sight of this important principle in recent weeks. To eliminate, or at least reduce, the big plays that did them in against Houston, everyone has to be involved. Tampa Bay can't leave it one or two players to make a tackle.
Get better play from the defensive line
The Packers won't blow anyone away with their running game, but it's important to stop it without the aid of extra defenders in the box. Green Bay's passing game is so good, the Bucs likely will commit six or seven players to their coverage schemes. DE Michael Bennett and DTs Albert Haynesworth, Brian Price and Roy Miller have to be the run stoppers, penetrate and cause disruption in the backfield to allow the linebackers, corners and safeties to stay back in coverage.
Bucs QB Josh Freeman vs. Packers DB Charles Woodson
Freeman may think otherwise, but he has seldom been as sharp this season as a year ago. He's shown a tendency to squeeze balls into tight windows, often betrayed by his confidence and his receivers. Woodson is among the league's top playmakers and, like Ronde Barber, he makes plays all over the field. He often lines up in the slot because that keeps him in the middle of the field and allows him to use his range and instincts. Woodson reads the eyes of quarterbacks and anticipates well, so Freeman will have to look off receivers and make precision throws. Woodson is not the defender you want to take chances against.
