Bucs NFL Draft Position Analysis: Tight End

Published:

Tight End

Tim Wright put up impressive numbers as an undrafted rookie and the Bucs added veteran Brandon Myers in free agency, a year after signing Tom Crabtree from Green Bay. In a division stocked with Jimmy Graham (Saints) and Greg Olsen (Panthers), the Bucs are still seeking an upgrade at the position.

Dream pick

Eric Ebron, North Carolina

This deft pass catcher with 4.6 speed and strong hands won’t last past the first round, but he could still be available if the Bucs drop a bit from their No. 7 spot.

Hidden gem

Arthur Lynch, Georgia

Lynch is a reliable blue-collar player who can locate seams in zone coverage and seal off linebackers at the point of contact.

Bucs history

Tampa Bay has never drafted a tight end in the first round. Luke Stocker, a fourth-round pick in 2011, has one career touchdown catch and is running out of chances with the Bucs. Two of the franchise’s most notable tight ends — Kellen Winslow Jr. and Ring of Honor member Jimmie Giles — were acquired in trades.
