Bucs hot reads: Sacks, interceptions and tackles

Sack attack

The Bucs followed up their five-sack effort in the season opener against the Jets with a four-sack effort against the Saints, making this the first time since 2011 they recorded four or more sacks in consecutive games. It also marks the first time since 2000 the Bucs had nine sacks in their first two games.

By the numbers

The Bucs are tied for third in the league with three interceptions, but their 92 total return yards and 30.7-yard return average are tops in the league. The Bucs are also tied for first in the league with one interception returned for a touchdown.

Bucs S Mark Barron is tied for fourth in the NFL in tackles by defensive backs with 17, while S Dashon Goldson is tied for seventh with 16. Their 33 combined tackles are fourth in the league among DB duos.

Injury update

For the Bucs, DT Derek Landri (knee), OL Gabe Carimi (illness) and CB Michael Adams (knee) are out for Sunday’s game. TE Tom Crabtree (ankle), CB Rashaan Melvin (hamstring), LG Carl Nicks (foot) and TE Luke Stocker (hip) are questionable. DE Adrian Clayborn (hip) and MLB Mason Foster (toe) are probable.

Notably for the Patriots, WR Danny Amendola (groin) is doubtful and TE Rob Gronkowski (back/forearm) is questionable.
