Did you know?
WR Vincent Jackson needs only 38 more receiving yards to reach 1,000 for the season and become the first Bucs wideout since Joey Galloway in 2006-07 to put together back to back 1,000-yard receiving seasons.
Kicking into gear
Buccaneers K Michael Koenen ranked second in the league with 58 touchbacks on kickoffs last year, but has fallen to 13th this season with touchbacks on only 33 of 53 kickoffs.
Forced to work a little harder, the Bucs coverage team has been up to the task. Tampa Bay has the league’s second-ranked kick coverage unit, one forcing opponents to start drives, on average, at their 19.4-yard line.
By the numbers
The Bucs have converted only 57 of 169 third-down attempts, a 33.7 conversion rate that ranks 27th in the league. One reason for their struggles: the Bucs rank 28th in average yards gained on first down at 4.86.
Quote of the day
“I’m not there yet. In due time I’ll be 100 percent and I’ll be ready to rock and roll, but I’m still not there yet.’’
