TAMPA — Buccaneers coach Lovie Smith put the finishing touches on his coaching staff on Friday when he named Mike Phair assistant defensive line coach and Carlos Polk assistant special teams coach.
Phair is a former Bucs scout (2002-04) who returns to Tampa Bay after three seasons as Chicago Bears defensive line coach. Prior to joining the Bears, Phair spent six seasons as a coach (2008-10) and scout (2005-07) with the Seattle Seahawks.
Polk comes to the Bucs after three seasons as San Diego Chargers assistant special teams coach. Prior to becoming a coach, Polk played eight seasons in the NFL from 2001-07, including seven with the Chargers.
