Derrick Brooks: Hall of Fame facts and figures

Published:   |   Updated: July 31, 2014 at 08:47 PM

• Derrick Brooks is the 24th linebacker inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame and the fourth player from Florida State, joining CB Deion Sanders, WR Fred Biletnikoff and fellow 2014 classmate T Walter Jones.

• Brooks, former Bucs teammate Warren Sapp and RB Curtis Martin are the only members of the 1995 draft class enshrined in Canton.

• Brooks shares a birthday (April 18) with Hall of Fame T Willie Roaf, inducted in 2012.

• Alphabetically, Brooks comes right after QB Terry Bradshaw among Hall of Fame inductees.

• Of the 165 living members in the Hall, the 41-year-old Brooks is the fourth youngest, behind T Jonathan Ogden (40), T Walter Jones (40) and RB Curtis Martin (also 41).

• Brooks tops all linebackers in the Hall with 11 Pro Bowl berths.

A DIFFERENT DEFENSE

Though time had begun to catch up with Derrick Brooks when the Bucs released him in 2009 after 14 seasons, the franchise has yet to catch up to the standard of excellence the defense set with Brooks. Here is a look at where the defense ranked in the NFL in points and yards allowed for the 14 seasons with Brooks and the five seasons since his departure.
