Panini’s Immaculate basketball has got sole

Now, here’s a card with a lot of sole.

Panini America’s Immaculate basketball product will hit stores on Sept. 3, and the newest insert will be called Sole of the Game. This card will feature the tread from NBA players’ game-worn sneakers.

The mock-up card Panini showcased in a news release Monday features the blue sneaker tread of Vince Carter. It definitely provides a different kind of look. Imagine a card with ridges and grooves.

The 2013-14 Immaculate basketball product will contain six cards in a hobby box. Panini is promising five autograph or memorabilia cards in each box. Here are some of the special cards to look for:

NBA Logoman cards will sport autographs from current stars, retired standouts and players of the future.

Gold ink autographs will be the feature signatures in the Scorers Club, Elite Scorers Club, The Greatest and HOF Heroes inserts.

Last year, Immaculate gave collectors relic cards with large swatches from game-worn jerseys. This year will be no different, with Nameplate, Jersey Number, Team Logo, Patches and Insignia variations. There also will be Rookie Patch autograph cards.

The Nameplate Nobility insert features full letters from the backs of game-worn jerseys. These letters practically take up the entire card.

And Rookie Logoman autograph booklets will feature top rookie combinations.

Panini is certainly hoping that this second edition of Immaculate basketball will have some traction with collectors.
