Rays v A’s Cobb returns

ST. PETERSBURG – Alex Cobb makes his long-awaited, much anticipated return to the rotation this afternoon during the finale of this three-game series with the A’s.

The Rays have lost four straight after last night’s strange 3-2 loss in which the Rays allowed just one hit. Since 1914, the first year records are available, teams that have allowed one hit are 1,310-67.

It was also the first time in team his the Rays allowed one hit and lost and the first time since 1914 the A’s (Philadelphia, Kansas City or Oakland) won a regular season game while held to one hit.

The Rays have lost 11 of their last 15 and are a season-high nine games under .500.
