DARLINGTON, S.C. (AP) Darlington Raceway President Chip Wile is steeping out from behind his desk and getting behind the wheel.

The superspeedway's first-year leader will drive a 3,300-pound stock car Saturday in a celebrity competition at Dillon Motor Speedway. Wile is among several area leaders racing at the track, a paved oval of about four-tenths of a mile.

The event will have two cars on the track competing in multiple elimination rounds. The two drivers who make it through to the finals will race for a $3,000 first prize that will be donated to the winner's charity of choice.

Wile is racing for Darlington Shares, the charitable arm of NASCAR's oldest superspeedway.

Others racing include the sheriffs of Darlington and Dillon counties and Maj. Melvin Warren of the South Carolina Highway Patrol.
