Area teams eliminated from Little League tournaments

Published:

South Nashville’s offense was too much for South Brandon as the Florida All-Stars fell 13-1 in four innings of the Little League Baseball Southeast Region semifinal from Warner Robins, Ga.

The Tennessee representatives started things off in the bottom of the first as Cade Reynolds singled in a run and South Nashville pitcher Blake Money controlled things from there. Money allowed only one run on three hits, walking in the lone South Brandon run in the third, to go along with eight strikeouts.

South Nashville’s seven-run second inning was keyed by a two-run homer from Sam Slaughter, who ended the game with a walk-off, mercy-rule home run in the fourth inning.

South Brandon went 11-3 in the postseason.

Keystone 10-11’s fall in tourney final

A stellar 34-game winning streak dating back to 2012 ended as the Keystone Little League All-Stars fell 3-2 to Wilson, N.C., in the 10-11-year-olds Tournament of State Champions in Greenville, N.C.

Keystone had defeated Wilson 10-3 earlier in the tournament.

Wilson’s Chase Waddell broke the 2-2 tie in the bottom of the fourth with a solo home run and held off Keystone from there. Ryan Lowder had a solo home run for Keystone in the loss.
