PALM HARBOR — The PGA of America is poised to move its national headquarters from West Palm Beach to North Texas, according to a report on Golf.com.
Citing a "top-secret project five years in the making," the report said the PGA will move to a new development in Frisco, Texas, a booming Dallas suburb that in recent years welcomed the relocation of corporations such as Toyota, Liberty Mutual and FedEx Office. North Texas is also on the list of places Amazon is considering for its second headquarters.
The Palm Beach Post reported Thursday morning the Professional Golfers Association issued a statement saying, "last year we issued a request for proposal to a number of markets that are potentially well suited and interested in developing a new headquarters campus for us. The due diligence phase is ongoing and no decisions have been made."
The news broke as play opened Thursday in the Valspar Championship, the PGA Tour stop at Innisbrook Golf Resort here.
