Palma Ceia Presbyterian Church is recruiting coaches, players and cheerleaders to be part of a year of basketball and cheerleading for boys and girls in kindergarten through fourth grade.

Upward Basketball and Cheerleading is a non-denominational Christian based program that gives every child an opportunity to enjoy the thrill of sports. The goal of Palma Ceia Presbyterian's Upward Basketball program is "to reach children for Christ through sports" in a safe, fun atmosphere.

Player evaluations will be held Sunday. A coaches meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, Aug. 29. Games begin Sunday, Sept. 9. The season runs through November with all games played on Sundays, and culminates with an end-of-season celebration. The cost is $100 per child. Scholarships are available on a first come, first served basis.

If you are interested in coaching or enrolling a child to play, contact Linda Beckham, director of educational ministry. She can be reached at linda@palmaceia.org or by telephone at (813) 253-6047.
