Then & Now: Hyde Park commercial building, 1927 and 2013

Published:

HYDE PARK — The 1923 brick building that once housed the Hyde Park Drugstore and F.A. Dunn Grocery is now home to Magnolia Inspiring Interiors, a home furnishing and accessories store.

The storefront, at 303 S. Magnolia Ave., looks similar to how it did in the ‘20s.

The building next door, at 301 S. Magnolia Ave., is former Fire Station No. Three. The firehouse, built in 1911, went out of service in 1978. A new owner bought the property and turned the two-story building into “party pad.” The first floor is climate-controlled and can hold at least a dozen cars. The second-floor is a one-bedroom living space complete with dining space and a rooftop patio.
