Turn on the juice at Scene on the Green

Scene on the Green presents a screening of the 1988 comedy-horror film "Beetlejuice" directed by Tim Burton, at dusk Friday (about 8:15 p.m.) on the Riverwalk at Curtis Hixon Waterfront Park, 600 N. Ashley Drive.

The free, outdoor family event features movies that are rated G or PG with short animations from IFF featured before the main film. Bring lawn chairs, blankets and picnic baskets; no alcohol allowed.

Martinis for Moffitt helps cancer fight

Sample an array of martinis while raising money for cancer research at Moffitt Cancer Center's "Martinis for Moffitt" event, taking place from 7 to 10 p.m. at the Straz Center, 1010 N. MacInnes Place.

Martinis for Moffitt provides a blend of entertainment and networking, while raising money to fight a devastating disease. There will be appetizers, live music, a silent auction and networking along with flavorful martinis. Tickets range from $50 to $250 and can be purchased online at brownpapertickets.com.

'Idol' finalist Rosado at Mini Golf Classic

The 2012 Dream Center Mini Golf Classic tees off at 10 a.m. at Dream Center of Tampa Bay, 2806 N. 15th St. The all-day tournament features three rounds of play and two intermissions with performances by 2012 "American Idol" Top 12 finalist Jeremy Rosado along with special appearances by the Buccaneer cheerleaders and professional athletes. There will be food, live music, a cupcake making station and more.

Registration is $25 and children are admitted free with a registered adult. To register or contribute on behalf of a team or player go to dctampagolf.eventbrite.com. Proceeds support the center's summer programs and second-floor renovations.

$5 Day returns to Lowry Park Zoo

Wal-Mart Stores sponsors a $5 Day Park & Ride on National Parents' Day from 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Lowry Park Zoo, 1101 W. Sligh Ave. Visit your favorite zoo animals for $5 per person. (Zoo rides are not included at special rate.)

Psychological thriller at Tampa Theatre

Catch a restored 35mm print of the 1944 film noir thriller "Laura," starring Gene Tierney, Dana Andrews and Clifton Webb, at 3 p.m. as part of the Summer Classics at Tampa Theatre, 711 N. Franklin St. There will be a post-film talk with Harriet Deer.

Homage to Helm and The Band

WMNF 88.5 FM presents "A Tribute to Levon Helm and The Band," with performances by six bands, starting at 5 p.m. at Skipper's Smokehouse, 910 Skipper Road. Helm was the drummer and frequent lead singer for The Band, known for his distinctive vocals in songs such as "Up on Cripple Creek" and "The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down."

Tickets are $12 in advance or $15 at the door and may be purchased in person at Skipper's or online at www.wmnf.org/events.

Trekkers unite for TNG 25th tribute

Star Trek fans can catch "Star Trek: The Next Generation" on the big screen.

"Star Trek: The Next Generation 25th Anniversary Event" beams into Hyde Park Cinebistro, 1609 W. Swann Ave., at 7 p.m. Monday. See two of the most popular episodes, "Where No One Has Gone Before" and "Datalore" along with interviews with cast and crew, and get a glimpse of the restoration of the show's first season at this simulcast event.
