The Oakhurst Square Apartments, 1120 N. Boulevard across from Tampa Preparatory School, installed a community garden for its residents this month.

The project was headed by Tampa lawyer and Oakhurst board member Tom Scarritt of the Scarritt Law Group and master gardener Wes Miller.

Volunteers constructed benches and grow boxes for a harvest that will include collard greens, tomatoes, onions, okra and other vegetables, which will go to the volunteers.

The project proved so popular that it is very likely another garden table will soon be constructed for herbs.
