DOWNTOWN — The Krewe of Zingaro will sponsor its 10th annual Uncork the Cure Wine Tasting and Silent Auction, with proceeds for local pediatric cancer research.
The event, which is open to the public, is scheduled from 4 to 7 p.m. June 22, at The Tampa Club, 101 E. Kennedy Blvd.
The event features an assortment of food and wine as well as a silent and live auction with trips, weekends at the beach, restaurant gift cards and may other items on the docket.
The popular event has raised more than $330,000 for research work under the direction of Dr. Cameron Tebbi, director of Pediatric Hematology/Oncology at the University of South Florida, which houses his lab.
“Uncork the Cure has helped us purchase equipment we use every day in the lab: the incubator, laminar flow hood, gene array equipment and more ... all made possible by this event and the generous people who support the event each year,” he said.
Tebbi was among the guests who helped kick off ticket sales at a South Tampa volunteer recruitment party May 31 in South Tampa.
Ray Gurka will perform music and Linda Hurtado will serve as the emcee for the event. The dress is “island casual,” which calls for printed shirts, khaki pants, capris and sundresses.
Tickets are $50 in advance and $60 at the door. For tickets, go to www.uncorkthecure .com.
