Hillsborough students offered free physicals, immunizations

TAMPA - A series of health fairs begin Saturday, Aug. 3, to get children ready for school.

The events offer physicals and immunizations for children entering Hillsborough County schools, as students must have up-to-date records.

The events are sponsored by the Back to School Coalition of Hillsborough, which includes representatives from government agencies, hospitals, private health care organizations and nonprofit groups.

The dates and locations are:

Saturday

9 a.m. to 1 p.m. - Lee Davis Neighborhood Service Center, 3402 N. 22nd St. An appointment is required.

9 a.m. to 1 p.m. - Blake High School and Project LINK/St. Joseph's Hospital, 1701 N. Boulevard. An appointment is required.

Aug. 10

8 a.m. to 11 a.m. - Tampa General Hospital at Healthpark, 5802 N. 30th St. Walk-ins only.

Aug. 17

9 a.m. to 1 p.m. - Ed and Myrtle Lou Swindle Medical Arts Center, 1601 W. Timberlane Drive, Plant City. An appointment is required.

9 a.m. to 1 p.m. - Eisenhower Middle School, 7620 Old Big Bend Road, Gibsonton. An appointment is required.

9 a.m. to noon - Webb Middle School, 6035 Hanley Road. Walk-ins only.

In addition, sports physicals for all student athletes will be offered from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at Westchase Sports Medicine, 6918 Gunn Hwy., Suite C. An appointment is required.
