Food trucks roll into Hyde Park

Idol finalist James plays Dallas Bull

American Idol finalist Casey James performs at the Dallas Bull, 3322 U.S. 301, at 7 p.m. James' sound is a mix of '70s rock and outlaw country and blues which many fans enjoyed when he toured with Sugarland. His first hit, "Let's Don't Call It a Night," moved up the country charts, and his newest single, "Crying on a Suitcase," just was released.

Food trucks rally to Hyde Park

The "Tasting Tampa" food truck rally rolls to Hyde Park Presbyterian Church, 1309 W. Swann Ave., from 4 to 8 p.m. Enjoy food, music and family fun before the start of the Republican National Convention. Prices range from $5 to $10.

Motown in spotlight at Cultural Center

Relive the Motown era along with other classic hits that followed it when Carrollwood Cultural Center presents "Motown and Beyond featuring the Sounds of Soul," at 8 p.m. at the Center, 4537 Lowell Road. Soak in the hits of Aretha Franklin, The Temptations, The Four Tops, Whitney Houston, The Supremes, Lionel Ritchie, Tina Turner, Barry White and others.

A conversation with Carolla and Prager

Veteran broadcasters Adam Carolla and Dennis Prager present an evening of funny and thought-provoking conversation at 8 p.m. in Carol Morsani Hall at the Straz Center, 1010 N. MacInnes Place. "An Evening with Adam Carolla and Dennis Prager" features debate topics as wide ranging as the afterlife, welfare, parenting, politics and pets. The 90-plus minute performance includes a Q&A with the audience where no topic is off limits.

The show is followed at 10 p.m. by a Cigars 'n' Stars After Party with appearances by Carrolla and Prager in the tented area outside Carol Morsani Hall. Tickets for the main show start at $26.50 plus service charges, and after-show tickets are $35 (requires purchase of an admission ticket to the main show). Fundraiser features raffles, live music

A fundraising concert for Hooked on Hope, a nonprofit organization that raises money for the USF Breast Health Center, takes place at 8 p.m. Saturday at Skipper's Smokehouse, 910 Skipper Road. Hooked on Hope operates fundraisers throughout the year, culminating with a fishing tournament in October.

Damon Fowler, Betty Fox and the Dirty Bastards and Luna Blue perform live, and raffle items include a flat screen television, a one-night stay in Little Harbor in Ruskin, a half-day fishing trip with Ladyfish Charters and more.
