SOUTH TAMPA — Attention bargain hunters: This one is for you.
The Dress for Success Tampa Bay Excess Inventory Sale will feature dresses, shirts, skirts, pants, blazers, belts, purses and more. Prices range from $1 for jewelry to $6 for suits with many items under $5.
The sale will be at the Bayshore Baptist Church, 3111 W. Morrison Ave., from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Friday and from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday.
The event, comprised of donated items not suitable for interviews or business wear, will raise money for Dress for Success Tampa Bay to purchase plus-size business attire and larger-size shoes for its clients who are trying to return to the work force.
Dress for Success Tampa Bay is part of an international nonprofit organization in 120 cities promoting the economic independence of disadvantaged women.
Kelly Hicks, of Dress for Success Tampa Bay, is helping organize the sale.
“These (large size pieces) are what we have a shortage in donations of,” Hicks said. “More and more women need those items.”
Hicks said the hundreds of items for sale include some that have never been worn and still have the price tag.
“We get a vast variety of donations and some pieces are very casual, or just not right for the workplace,” Hicks said.
The organization held a similar sale in the spring and made more than $10,000, she said.
