The Rotary Club of Tampa held its annual speech contest on a recent Tuesday.

The contest was open to area high school students who present a speech to the club on a provided topic.

This year’s speech topic was, “Engage Rotary — Change Lives,” the theme of Rotary International for the year.

Participants in this year’s contest were Jaylexia Clark, a junior at Hillsborough High; Tyler Hillier, a senior at Cambridge Christian School; and Bradford Stone, a junior at Berkeley Preparatory.

Hillier won the contest and was awarded a $100 prize; $50 runner-up prizes were awarded to Clark and Stone.

Hillier will advance to the Rotary Group 3 contest in April.

“All three contestants gave outstanding speeches to the club, and we applaud them all and look forward to Tyler Hillier representing the club at the next level,” said Rotary Club of Tampa President Wayne Critcher.
