APOLLO BEACH – Thousands of folks who like barbecue, brews and live music will flock to the upcoming Pigs in the Parking Lot BBQ, Beer and Blues Festival on May 16. And the SouthShore Chamber of Commerce is inviting area businesses to take part in the fun.
The free, family-friendly event – a combination of the old Pigs in the Park festival and the SouthShore Chamber of Commerce Business Expo – is free to the public. It will take place from 4 to 11 p.m. at Harbor Village Plaza.
“The only things you pay for are food and drinks,” said Melanie Morrison, executive director of the chamber. “This is a community event for the whole family where area residents can meet face-to-face with the people who own local businesses that serve them.”
The festival has great visibility. Folks driving north and south on U.S. 41 easily will spot the late afternoon and evening festivities, which will include more than 50 business vendors; live entertainment by LadyHawke Light and a blues headliner to be announced; a free children's area called This Little Piggy Went to Market; interactive games; arts and crafts and more.
Parking is also free.
Harbor Village Plaza is at Harbor Village Lane and Leisey Road in Apollo Beach.
