Free gardening classes

Hydro Harvest Farms, 1101 Shell Point Road E., Ruskin, is offering two free classes on Jan. 18 to start off the new year. From 10 to 11 a.m. co-owner Terrie Lawson will teach you about growing hydroponically; how to easily set up a tower garden; and how to control pesky insects that may invade it. Then after you learn how to grow your veggies, learn how to save their flavors in a free canning class from noon to 3 p.m. Bring along the kids.

Membership savings

Local dues for new members who join the Sun City Center/South Shore branch of the American Association of University Women before March 15 have been reduced to $20. Women who reside in southern Hillsborough County and have an associate’s or higher degree from any accredited institution of higher learning are invited to be a guest at the annual Women of Distinction luncheon and ceremony on Feb. 11 or the group’s March 8 monthly luncheon. Local jazz music

Independent record label Tate Music Group recently announced the official release of Fallen Angel’s new album, “Fallen Down.” The album offers eight tracks and is available at the iTunes Store, Amazon.com or directly from TateMusicGroup.com.

Fallen Angel is a promising musician from Gibsonton whose music is of the neo-jazz or electro-jazz genre. Singing since age 7, she learned how to produce, mix and sequence her own music, a mix of jazz and eclectic soul.

Help wanted

Good Samaritan Mission, 14920 Balm Wimauma Road, Wimauma, is looking for business partners to allow the mission to place outdoor containers for collecting used clothing and shoe donations throughout the community.
