A 52-year-old man died and two of his passengers were left hospitalized this morning when he reached for a book while driving and crashed his pickup in Ruskin.
Cletus Dimiglio, of 1815 30th Street S.E., was southbound on 27th Street S.E. in his 1998 Ford pickup truck when he reached for a book and swerved off the left side of the road, according to the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office.
He tried to recover, swerved back to the right, then truck spun out of control and overturned into a ditch on the right side of the road, the sheriff’s office said.
Dimiglio was taken to South Bay Hospital where he died, according to the sheriff’s office.
His two passengers – Wesley and Rodney Davis, both 45 and of 1906 340th St., Ruskin – were taken to Tampa General Hospital and are listed in good condition, the sheriff’s office said.
